Coinciding with the release of the Spice and Wolf OVA that is preceding the broadcasting of the second season, Good Smile Company has released their version of the Wise Wolf Holo in her human form (wearing clothes unfortunately, not in her birthday suit as so depicted in the OVA). Made in 1/8 scale, this version of Holo comes with plenty of options in regards to her attire and various accessories. The OVA itself is pretty funny also, and shows a very moe side of Holo acting very tsundere towards Lawrence. The tail wagging also gets me every time.
The pose and expression that GSC has sculpted this figure with capture the whimsical character of Holo pretty well.
A close-up shot of her okami-mimi, along with her trademark pouch of wheat around her neck. A decent amount of detail in her hair and bangs too.
This profile shot shows off the details in her dress, the ribbon, and her wolf tail peeking out from underneath the dress.
From behind, you can see more of her tail, as well as the ring attached to the red rope flaring out.
The other profile shot shows more of that flaring rope and the front of her dress as well.
Close-up of her Ugg boots, didn’t know Holo dressed like your typical Valley Girl. Where’s that pink Northface jacket?
Holo sheds her vest and dress now, and lets her tail wag freely.
Close-up of the red ribbon attached to her midsection. Very nice detail in the folding and fabric.
Holo lets her tail hang out. The tail is a bit sparse in terms of detail, but I guess it would have been too much to make it give a realistic impression of fur.
A shot of Holo’s center-mass area with the pouch of wheat. While she’s not as well-endowed as some of her peers in the world of anime bishoujos, her mimi moe and personality more than make up for it.
You can definitely see more of Holo’s figure with the dress and vest removed. She has a cute little bum underneath that tail.
Another close-up of her face, and you can see more of the detail in her mimi and hair as well.
Holo completely covers up now, with a hat to go over her okami-mimi.
You have to remove her ears in order to be able to put the hat on, however.
The hat is pretty nondescript, but its what Holo wears to hide her identity as the Wise Wolf from the common-folk.
A few more shots of Holo with the hat on.
Deconstructing Holo. These are all the pieces that you can mix and match to change her appearance. The vest and pouch of wheat comes off by removing her head and arms, and only the lower tail is compatible with the dress.
Looks like GSC hats are compatible between figures! Here is Holo wearing Lala Satalin Deviluke’s (To Love-RU) hat, from a figure also made by GSC.
GSC Holo with her counterpart produced by Kotobukiya. Kotobukiya’s figure seems more accurate to the manga version of Holo, while GSC’s shares a greater likeness with the animated Holo. I’ll end this review with an animated scene from the OVA, depicting Holo anxiously awaiting the return of Lawrence after passing out due to one too many drinks.
Shake those tail feathers, girl!
